The Indian equity market indices continued its bull run for the third consecutive session on Friday supported by gains in largecap stocks as financial year 2023-24 nears an end. At close, the Sensex was up 190.75 points or 0.26 percent at 72,831.94, and the Nifty was up 84.80 points or 0.39 percent at 22,096.75. About 2434 shares advanced, 1209 shares declined, and 119 shares unchanged.
UPL, Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Sun Pharma were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Wipro, Infosys, LTIMindtree, HCL Technologies and TCS.
On the sectoral front metal, auto, realty, FMCG, capital goods, healthcare and oil & gas up 0.5-1 percent, while Information Technology index down 2 percent.BSE midcap index up 0.3 percent and smallcap index up 1 percent.
Rupee Close:
The Indian rupee declined 20 paise to 83.33 against the U.S. dollar on Friday due to a stronger greenback in the global markets and dollar buying by importers.
