New Delhi. The domestic equity market indices indicated a positive note on Thursday eve, amid buying across the sectors. At close, Sensex was up 335.39 points or 0.46 per cent at 73,097.28 and Nifty was up 148.95 points or 0.68 per cent at 22,146.65.
Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco Industries and ONGC were the top gainers on the Nifty while, losers included Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and JSW Steel.
On the sectoral front, except for a bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with telecom, power, oil & gas added 3 per cent each. While auto, capital goods, FMCG, Information Technology, healthcare and metal rose 1-2 per cent. Broader indices outperformed the main indices with the BSE Midcap index rising 2.2 per cent and Smallcap index gaining 3 per cent.
Rupee Close:
On 14 Mar’24, the Indian rupee depreciated 5 paise to 82.86 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, tracking a negative trend in domestic equities.
Forex traders said the strength of the American currency, foreign fund outflows, and elevated crude oil prices in the international market dented investors’ sentiments.
