Sensex ends at fresh record high for 3rd day, climbs 358 pts; Nifty nears 21K

The Indian equity market indices raced to scale new peaks on Wednesday, lifted by gains in blue chip stocks on the back of strong institutional inflows. Investors turned wealthier by Rs 2.17 lakh crore after benchmark sensitive indices Sensex and Nifty touched record highs in initial trade on Wednesday, with Nifty nearing the psychologically- important level of 21,000.At close, the Sensex was up 357.59 points or 0.52 percent at 69,653.73, and the Nifty was up 82.60 points or 0.40 percent at 20,937.70. About 1659 shares advanced, 1592 shares declined, and 82 shares unchanged.

Stocks and Sectors

Wipro, LTIMindtree, ITC, L&T and TCS were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, Cipla, NTPC and UltraTech Cement.

On the sectoral front most of the sectors ended in the green with capital goods, FMCG, Information Technology, oil & gas and power up 1-2 percent, while bank, healthcare down 0.5 percent each.BSE midcap and Smallcap indices ended marginally higher.

On 06 Dec’23,the rupee appreciated 5 paise to close at 83.32 against the US dollar on Wednesday, helped by a bullish trend in domestic equities and sustained foreign fund inflows.Forex traders said elevated American currency in the overseas markets and dollar buying by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) capped sharp gains for the local unit.

Market experts have recommended six stocks to buy for Wednesday- Coromandel, Dabur, SBI, Havells, ABFRL, AU Small Finance Bank.
