Indian Students Pursuing Master’s Degree in France to be Granted Post-Study Visa of 5 Years, Announces PM Modi

In a significant development aimed at promoting educational opportunities for Indian students and fostering bilateral relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that Indian students who are pursuing a master’s degree in France will now be given a five-year long-term post-study visa.
Earlier, Indian students were given two-year work visa.
PM Modi made the announcement during his address to the Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris. He also received a gala welcome from the people gathered there, according to sources.
The new policy aims to facilitate greater academic and career prospects for Indian students and strengthen the ties between India and France.
The Prime Minister, who arrived in Paris on Thursday on a two-day official visit, was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the airport. He was welcomed by French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne at the airport,as per media reports.
PM Modi called his visit to France “special” as France is celebrating its National Day and congratulated the people on the occasion.
He is attending the National Day Parade of France with French President Emmanuel Macron and called it a reflection of the “unbreakable friendship between India and France.”
The Prime Minister made this announcement during his visit to France, where he engaged in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron on various matters of mutual interest, including education and cultural exchange programs. The decision to extend the post-study visa duration for Indian students is part of the joint efforts to enhance cooperation in the field of education.
With this progressive move, India and France are expected to strengthen their ties in the field of education, create new avenues for collaboration, and further enhance the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
