Stock Market closed 5-Month High; Nifty climbs up 18500,Sensex settles 630 points higher.

The Indian equity indices ended 5 month high on Friday, following a tech rally from Wall Street overnight.

At close,the Sensex was up 629.07 points or 1.02 percent at 62,501.69, and the Nifty was up 178.20 points or 0.97 percent at 18,499.35.

For the week, the Sensex and the Nifty50 rose 1.2 percent and 1.6 percent respectively, according to sources.

Stocks and Sectors

Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, Divis Labs, HUL and Hindalco Industries were the biggest gainers in Nifty, while losers were ONGC, Grasim Industries, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel and Power Grid Corp, according to sources.

On the sectoral front,all indices ended in green. Metal, FMCG, information technology, realty, pharma and PSU Bank were up 1 percent each.

The BSE midcap index added 0.8 percent and the smallcap index was up 0.5 percent.

On 26th May’23,the Indian rupee closed 16 paise higher at 82.58 against US dollar.
